Focal Subwoofer - Location?
Bought a Focal subwoofer to go in the new 110. Reading around seems like most have fitted them under the rear seats.

Has anyone fitted them anywhere else. Was thinking today if under the cubby would work? Would need to sign some kind of frame to raise the cubby up

Any pictures/advice appreciated

So I have a Focal IBus fitted and like you was unsure as to where the best place to fit it was, however i have now fitted it on the rear box arch snug against the side. It has a purpose made box which sits over it for protection and is Dyna matted and carpeted. Sounds awesome without any reverberation. Now if only I could get the rear speakers to work that are plugged into it!! Photo to follow.

Steve - Surely its too big for the rear of the cubby. The Alpines, Kenwoods etc seem to fit there but this is much bigger

Charlie - look forward to the photo Thumbs Up

What sort of dimensions are we talking?
Unless we are talking REALLY big even if it is larger than the chubby rear you can likely make a mounting plate / board.
But yes, depends on size though..

The Focal unit is much bigger than the, say, commonly fit Alpine unit.

The Focal is 344mm x 250mm

The Alpine SWE 1200 is 280mm x 226mm and is a good fit on the rear of the cubby

So after a bit of playing this afternoon, think I'm going to go for mounting it below the Cubby Box. Going to make an open ended MDF box, bolt that to the floor, install the subwoofer in that, and re-install the cubby box on that. Box will be about 4" high, open front and back for ventilation and maybe painted black/trimmed in vinyl

Anyone see any flaws in that?

Yeah, that should be fine. Any less though I wouldn't go for.
It should transfer bass to body quite well. Thumbs Up
