hello
I guess my rear wheel with tyre is worth around £250 so up to £100 but ideally £50. would that seem fair? |

Thanks mk 1 .............stacey i think your right about the fair price range £100 sounds about the maximum....peters stuff does lie in the premium end of the market though see here:

Gordo, I believe that is a Hutchinson beadlocker for Defenders. Look here
This is one of the few if not the only beadlocker which is fully road legal in Europe! It is late and has been a long busy hectic day! Some people certainly have a very short memory. Sorry folks but believe it or not we will not be setting a price on any item by what forum members say we should be charging! People might be surprised to find out out that our pricing policy goes along the lines, cost to us, transport cost to us, handling/packaging/instruction production costs, storage and insurance costs, exchange rates/bank costs etc. and dare I say what some might consider a dirty word but what profit margin we decide on. Then we have to add on any legal taxes the government decides we should impose on any items we sell. 
So no we will not be setting our price by what forum members think we should or should not charge! Brendan |

You do appear to twist everything brenden !stacey 007 a new menber who simpley stated that he/she would be interested if it was a sensible price and made a great point about balancing the cost of the lock agaist the cost of the wheel....I simply asked what stacey thought was a sensible price !and aggreed with the estimate .....the first rule of selling is know your market so some folk would use it as market research........i didnt want to say directly that peters stuff is overpriced for what it is and attractsca certain type of buyer and no way would it be anywhere near the £100 mark if thhe £170he charged for a light surrounf facia are anything to go by ! its a free society brenden pricing is up to the vendor im sure the usual suspects will buy it!but i am sure you would sell more if it was sensibly priced............anyway why is defender stuff always a third more expensive than it needs to be are all defender owners mugs? |

Guys, time to calm down. In the grand scheme of things this is only a Defender accessory, is it really worth getting so worked up about?

They are Rock Monster Defender wheels, which may or may not have the beadlocker device fitted (bearing in mind whose photos they are it is likely that they do have the beadlock insert, I think). Rock Monster is the brand name for Hutchinson wheels. The wheels can be used without the beadlocking device. See here for wheels and here for beadlock info. This article might also be of interest. For info the wheels are around £470 each.  |

Thanks for the clarification, it's not clear on the Hutchinson/Rock Monster websites whether the beadlock is required or not (at least not as far as I can see).
Hutchinson P/N WA-0604 looks identical but doesn't seem to require the beadlock. |
