Also interested if it's black, will take 18" boosts ... fitted with 275/65 tyres ... mounted on a swing away wheel carrier ... and I can get a wheel cover over it.

So:
1. Bolt goes through wheel carrier, fixed with locking nut. 2. Other end the shovel bracket is bolted on. By turning it always fits, regardless of tyre width. 3. The three eyes (1+2) is to put a padlock through> May move it to one side and put some kind of clasp on the other side. As the shovel goes vertically over the tyre, it makes removing the tyre very hard. But this is basically my idea. Click image to enlarge |

Whilst Nakatanenga have an excellent reputation and contract manufacturers to provide their services, apart from an 'idea' there is not much more apart from the fact it will be made from stainless. I like stainless. I too would like to register an 'interest' in that 'idea' and await with eagerness to see if it will be 'universal' enough to include swing away carriers as requested previously and to see the final product. How long can we expect to wait please?

The idea is ready, the drawing nearly ready Will have the prototype in about 2-3 weeks.
The ebay offer is OK but only usable with boost wheels and you have to drill (and weaken) the wheelcarrier. As far as i can judge from here it will not work with swing aways. WANTED: SII or SIII in max 1.5k |

why worry about drilling the spare wheel carrier , its a bolt on item and if you ever wanted to go back to standard you can pick up another carrier for about 20 quid from 4x4 jumbles etc |

Its too weak anyways. Have had a couple of broken ones already. Always arounf the 3 wheelstuds or around the bolts which fix the carrier on the door. If additionally weakened by holes it will break even faster. WANTED:

@Peter - Nakatenga
I, like many others I'm sure, are now terrified that our standard wheel carriers are going to fall off the back door having ripped six holes in the back door or ripped three welded bolts out of the wheel carrier Could you post up pictures of the many failures you've encountered please and explain in more detail how three 10mm holes in the centre of a 6" x 8" steel plate that is 3mm thick will speed up this process ? Also, in your vast experience, what can we do to stop this happening (apart from buy one of your wheel carriers of course) Thank you |

Haven't got any pictures here. Will check the pile of demountet OE carriers later, but the broken ones are usually binned in the big blue container...
From the engeneering point of view the material will be weakened. There is enough material available on the web about these facts. Maybee it won't be weakened enough to have an effect. WANTED: SII or SIII in max 1.5k |
