Hello
One of the few things I might miss from changing my 'normal' car to a defender is the Bluetooth phone. I've seen flip front std single din radio cd players starting around £150 do anyone recommend one of these up to around £350 that has.. Bluetooth for my phone Add on for a camera SD card slot Thanks Also changing what ever standard speakers I have for better ones what would people suggest? |

What would you want an SD card slot for?

Just an easy way to play music off, that or a usb input.
Its not a deal breaker, main thing is a good bluetooth connection for phone and possible camera add on. |

USB would be much easier.
Plenty of options but for your budget it'd be difficult to get all of it along with a premium brand. BT is often £100 and a Camera the same that leaves just £150 for the HU. USB input will be as standard. The Kenwood KVT 526 would do this but is slightly out of date now. Pioneer have some good alternatives though, likely include BT and USB for around £350 but won't include a camera. You could possibly use a smartphone or iPad / tablet for your music if you have one streamed by BT to a cheaper HU and a dash cam connected too. Only much use if you have a tablet or smartphone though. |

Well my Kenwood KVT 729 appears to be giving up the ghost and acting up.
Might give it a go and see if I can fix it, whip it out and see if it's plugs etc lose or possibly internal. Other than that might have to seek an alternative in the near future. Probably look into the Clarion flip out, quite pricy but not with everything inc. Can't really complain on the Kenwoods lifespan even if I can't sort it, it's around ten years old. |

Anyone hear seen a good example of fitting factory looking speakers to a 110 double cab pickup?
I know there is the unused bits in the rear tub but... You can't really hear them on the inside on the motorway haha I was thinking something behind the rear seats |

It's been a while !!! Thread revival time
At long last I've found some time and converted the back of my TD5 with forward facing seats. Swmbo is pleased, daughter was excited, then she realised the sub had to make way for her feet. I must admit last week I was somewhat concerned myself !! I run a focal Ibus2.1 in the 2.2, and it's very good, but it don't feel lor sound like a Sub can. I wanted to keep the centre seat up front, and didn't want the hassle of totally removing the bulkhead so my options were diminishing. It's rather tight, but you can just get a homemade sub box behind the fold up seats, to house an 8" sub. I had already researched these (considered converting the cubby in the puma) and it was a choice between Alpine SWR-843 or a JL 8W3v4-4, with both utilising a .3 cu ft sealed box. I opted for the Alpine, it will achieve an additional 100watts rms and I have had type R subs before. It also had an added bonus Of being £60 cheaper !!! To mount it, I also decided that I would fire the sub at the floor, in the hope that it would:- a- protect the cone, and b- transfer some base to the chassis. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge It is probably one of the best compramises I've ever done. The box once carpeted will be discreet, and I don't really lose any practical load space, and it bangs almost as hard as the twin 10s |
