Was reading up on this last week from forum and went and ordered some bits which I used today and was blown away with the results
 Click image to enlarge Reached out to Juicy Detailing (they were mentioned in the forum) and I was really impressed with the great advice which didnt include hard sales and over the moon with results which have removed so many of the green lane scratches I hd gained and revitalised the paint

DODO Juice snow foam, now that 's the dogs chods!
Used it today as a pre-wash, really clings and lifts an awful lot of dirt, plus it has a really low ph so does not remove any of the Carnuba Wax which was applied on the last clean. You only have one life, live it....forget the cost. 90XS Hardtop |

All I can add to this is that it gives me faith that in a few years when all you blokes with all the spare time on your hands to wash your cars finally get bored of defender ownership I am going to have a plethora of nicely looked after motors to replace my lorry with. Keep up the good work. Oh and for the rest of us that don't have the time or inclination, meh it's a defender it ought to be out working not being polished, right? Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

Lambert - I have hardly got the time lately too, so know what you mean.

It can still be out working but having been loved it will look better in years to come and won't look like a skip. If you like living with a skip then that's your lookout I suppose.  2016 D4 HSE

I'm sorry for having spare time on my hands... Or actually want my vehicle to look half decent in a couple years time rather than scratched, corroded and faded. For something I've paid over 30grand for I'm going to look after it. |

It's not a matter of riding about in a skip or not a defender is a tool to do a job and yes it needs to be maintained but polish is not maintenance washing the mud off to stop it rotting is. On something car like and toy like then polishing is a great way to get to know the car, I spent hours detailing the door shuts on my subarus never mind the visible bits but that was never allowed to be dirty as it a statement piece not a tool. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon. |

Nope, was ok to cover most areas except under the double Rhino rack for the Oztent but will remove that next time as it should not take to long. She is going to get dirty again very soon so would like to see what difference the wax makes when coming round to cleaning again |

I would say the removal of mud on the chassis and outriggers, rear crossmember is THE most important part, but there's also no reason a land rover should look visually rubbish. I know of some people who have never and will never even put their car through a car wash, let alone wash by hand or do the above, but then these are the people who's car is worth the square root of  all when they come to part exchange or sell. A fool and his money are easily parted, in more ways than one! 2016 D4 HSE

Hi Hairysteve, your 110 looks superb. I suspect you may have machine polished possibly using the DS06 polisher? I haven't plucked up courage to use a machine polisher on my Defender yet as I am not confident that JLR put enough paint on, particularly with it having lots of edges as opposed to most modern cars having gentle curves.
I'd be interested to know how you found the DS06 (if in fact you used it). |

I like this topic makes me feel more normal, I thought I had an Autoglym OCD when it came to keeping the landy tidy.

I think everyone starts off with the AG stuff then move onto others, there's a bewildering array on the web of very specialist stuff, however I moved to Meguiars and used every since. Back in the day you had to mail order it, now it's available in Halfords, which is actually very handy! 2016 D4 HSE

I've gone a slightly different route to RRUK. I too used AG for many years but now use a mixture of suppliers including Meguires, Auto Finesse, Poor Boys, R222 etc. The product I like the most (for alloy wheels) is Bilberry Juice, by Valet Pro, it's pH neutral and the most effective wheel cleaner I have ever used (smells nice too).
Like RRUK says look at the numerous detailing sites on the web. |
