Meguiar's for me too, you can buy it as a kit.
I'd be a little hesitant to use it on new paint, not because there is any prop elm but simply because the face the paint will be quite new and will be relatively soft. I would tend to leave it at least 6 months , but that's just me. |

It is, but it shouldn't stop anyone from keeping their pride and joys nice Each to their own, if you want to drive around in a skip then fine. I use Autoglym,s clay bar kit: works really well.. and yes I did it the day I took delivery. I'm pleased to see I'm not the only one who cares for their cars.
I know each to their own etc, but I'll never understand why anyone would pay money for a car and neglect it. It's a big pot of your hard earned money sitting on the driveway and the more you neglect it, the less money you have at the end! 2016 D4 HSE 1998 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF 1982 Series 3 SWB Petrol |

I totally agree with you on looking after your motor.
Click image to enlarge I don't get why someone would spend £80k on a motor and £5 to get it washed badly. My Disco will get what it's given but the car has to have, jet wash, snow foam, wheel clean, door shuts, re jet wash, two bucket wash, towel dry, and quick detailed. |

Hey Muddy Chris,
You've just convinced me that I'm not alone - someone else who knows how to wash a car properly. |

I spent many hours cleaning my defender yesterday, as it rarely goes off the Tarmac I like to keep it shiny and clean. Each to their own.

Claybar, maybe some day I'll give Meguiar (or better name) a go as I know it is available here, but point is, in 7 years I have never, not even once, hand washed the SVX myself. Contrary to what appears the case on the island west of the Channel, our Swiss automatic car washes are very good, and the SVX still looks like below after I go through it plus a quick towel dry afterward.... So claybar seems a lot of work to me for maybe just a little difference.

I've never used clay, because I've never needed to, but I've seen it used, and it is BRILLIANT stuff.
But Gracie is always garaged & covered when not being used, she is washed when she gets dirty, and I polish her, as I have always done with all of our cars, once a year. I do a good thorough job, usually takes me a few days, but I'm always happy with the end result. Keeping any car in a garage makes paint maintenance FAR easier, & I've always admired those that manage to keep their car pristine without one,....but in Aus, that would be a rare occurrence, as most of us have garages of some sort,...the hot Aussie sun is not kind to cars. ^^ Mine is 10% of the time under cover at home, where only the rear side as in the picture gets afternoon sun as of 5PM, the other 89.9% it is in my underground heated and aerated parking.
Oh yes, 0.1% remains.... That is when it is on the road, like to go to events like this one below here. &feature=youtu.be or this one. Click image to enlarge Eric You never actually own a Defender. Ericvv, an automatic carwash and black paint isn't a good combination
I bet there are more swirls in the paint than a ice rink after Torvill and Dean have done Balero You only have one life, live it....forget the cost. 90XS Hardtop |
