^^ WRONG!
No nylon brushes here, only very high end soft cloth machines, which get renewed very regularly. I can assure you that all the high end cars, and we have some of those, , would not like their paint being damaged by the car wash. Yes, even the Astons use it all the time. Certain parts of Geneva can not be compared with across the border France for instance , where I wouldn't want to touch a automatic car wash with a barge pole. Here it is an absolutely different story, very high quality, but not cheap, probably expensive if compared with what a hand washer with a bucket and a brush would charge on the island. Every few years the wash streets in our area (2) get entirely replaced by new ones. What also helps, in Geneva you never see dirty cars, off-roading is illegal here, so you never see mud, and even the streets here get washed every few days. So, at the worst, cars going thru the soft cloth wash will just have some dust to wash off. Anyone on here is welcome to come and look for those swirls you think of. I keep my truck pristine, if there would be swirls, would have quickly abandoned our local installations already years ago. Eric You never actually own a Defender. I feel this is an area of car ownership I know very little about. The 110 was roller painted and as such probably wouldn't benefit. But I always feel that my daily drive black BMW looks a bit dull. I'll invest in a clay mitt but could someone point me to a good beginners guide for polishing and waxing etc? 1990 Defender 110 200TDI Camper - now converted to Td5 power

^^^^^^^Nice level of foam.
What do you use out of interest, looks like it might have been applied with a pressure washer? |

Ill agree Eric, that when you mentioned it before your machines are a different quality to the sanders you get in the UK. Although Reckon if you had a go you could still make a huge difference to yours. I always find something nice about cleaning them yourself anyway as lets you keep on top of marks and bits that have fallen off from where they should be

I don't use a dedicated snow foam - I use a wash/wax liquid applied through a snow foam bottle attached to a Kaarcher hot water pressure washer. |

This is becoming more of a WA board... Waxers Anonymous and I am talking Landrovers people
In fairness I spent out on Dinitrol via Zag to protect the underneath of my new 110 but rather than pay out another £500 for a dealer paint protection I Googled car detailing...loads of useful guides out there recommending clay bar etc.. But I wasn't as fussed about carnauba wax shine but more on paint protection so went down the sealant route... Found http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/ch...ction.html and they recommended a product called CarLack 68 for a mid grey... £60 later for a complete kit and have to say well impressed ... That and washing with the two bucket method (never done that obvious step before) Nice and simple...stopped short of a clay bar this time but a nice wash then applied the Carlack Complete then topped with a few layers of CarLack LLS (Long Life Sealant) and it shines...well worth a few hours and am happy the paint now has some protection as well as the chassis Love seeing the water bead and run off... Apparently could last 6months but we'll see 👀 Proud to own 110XS TDCi SW..previously 90XS Td5 SW |

I've never washed the body of my Defender.
Chassis and windscreen every now and then, but the rest doesn't get dirty. Even on muddy lanes in the wet. My Hyundai on the other hand looks like a take it in a P&P on a regular basis when that rarely goes off road. |

I Will always tell people to never get anything applied to there body work by a car dealer. I've seen to many brand new cars at detailers needing correction work after the dealers have badly prepped it. If you haven't got the conference or time to do it properly then £300 would get you a full protection detail that lasts up to three years.

Is it not the case that modern paint systems harden a lot quicker now though Steve (question rather than statement)... I suppose what will concern me, especially with Winter arriving, will be getting a good paint protective coat on as soon as possible... Wouldn't it be better to Clay before protect in any event...
