Tim looks to me like someone covered the flaps over with a roll bitumen roofing felt , to try and keep the weather out
Will be a pig to remove...another reason maybe to replace the bulkhead. N. |

I've seen Bulkheads in a lot worse condition.. really depends on your welding/ Fabricating skills I suppose.. A new bulkhead can be pricey and time consuming..
I opted for a TD5 one I found complete with ancills, dash etc for £500, only had to do a few of the MODs like the G/box tunnel to fit my LT77 because I'm using the TD5 wiper motor, and complete dash so it was a doddle to fit.. My 1986 90 is currently on a full rebuild, with new chassis, Paint etc.. Very much a hybrid, TD5 Chassis, tub & bulkhead with a 200TDI and LT77 GB Painted in Stornoway Grey 2 years off the road, but getting close to completion now |

Replace it and get it galvanised. More projects come to a grinding halt as people try something that doesn't work and then lose the will.

Didn't get much done this weekend , installed the correct transmission brake and removed the Pto driven hydraulic pump for the winch. Did the flange seal on the transfer box too seen as the flange had to come off to mount the new back plate
Oh and found more holes in the chassis ....looks more and more like a new galvanized chassis is needed Before I know it......it will have turned into a complete re - build N. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

The replacement bulkhead arrived.... Td5 one off a 06 utility 110, hopefully not too different to the 300tdi one....all in all its in fairly good nick, except for some rust along the top of the footwells....Land rover in their wisdom figured there was no need to brush some seam sealer on this joint ...
Click image to enlarge Started into removing the dash parts floor plates etc. Click image to enlarge Thats all for now Nidge. |
