Get it tuned, larger intercooler, remove the EGR valve, sort the gearing ratios to 1.2, make sure it's watertight, upgrade the front discs to vented if they aren't already, kony heavy track shocks all round, while your doing that I'd change the bushes for Super Pro's, Wipac crystal headlights with nightbreaker bulbs, TGE panels in the rear sides with some soundproofing behind, get it serviced by a good local independent - and then just enjoy it.

I've got a td5, had it 18 months now.
First thing I did was the security. Bought an Adrenalin pedal lock then got a Skytag tracker unit from Matt at FCX via the forum discount. Went down to FCX where he fitted it. Ended up buying a new metal lockable cubby box from him! Another good buy. Then get the underbody treated and sealed. Enjoy Andy Defender Td5 XS90 |

I've used an Adrenalin lock for 3 or 4 years on the 90 and it's a great bit of kit. The downside however is that you have a large lump of metal loose in the back and are continuously walking around to stow it/fit it.
More recently I fitted an X-eng pedal lock to the 110 and whilst it is more expensive, it is a lot better. It takes a little time to install it perfectly but once in use it's great and has stood up well to being repeatedly kicked with muddy boots. Simply unlock, drop down and off you go. - I would definitely buy another one. As said, Matt at FCX was doing a good deal on Skytags via the forum discount, we have had 3 units from him now and are very happy with the level of service. |

Unfortunately the X-eng pedal box won't fit if you have the air con panel fitted on the Td5
 I've seen that pedal box and its absolutely superb - so easy to activate that there is no reason not to use it everytime you get out, but gggrrrr.... |

Cosmetics aside... If you know the service history and it's up to date, I would just enjoy it.
Small problems will start surfacing as you start using it more. From windscreen wipers to the wiper park switch. If the master clutch cylinder hasn't been done recently, you'll probably be doing it. If you don't need to do anything, then don't. You'll be at it soon enough. Only thing I would advice you to check is if there's oil seeping out of the wiring loom into your fuse box (under your seat). Ooh, and maybe bumperettes, within the first month of ownership I drove into a pole at the office parking garage, twice. |

Take all the shine bits off and install old parts and some big tyres and have fun.

There is the whole if it aint broke don't fix it but I guarantee you something will be broke, you just don't know it yet!
My list was security (nothing major) then on to the faults, replaced injector harness, replaced rocker cover gasket and injector seals and washers, replaced FPR gasket. Then I painted it pink and stuck the fluffy dice in. Michael was just telling me a story about a friend of his who slept with a land rover, lonely nights in the desert.. |
