Td5 sudden loss of power
Hi all last night I pressure washed my 03td5 90 and on the drive home. She wouldn't pull like normal was fine up to 2500 ish then after that she dies back, no extra smoke. I plugged my nanocom in and I used to have 1.09 bar of boost when pushing though the most I've seen since last night is 1.01 bar and it won't hold for long. Any help great fully received cheers ed

Sounds like the turbo waste gate is seized up so the ECU is detecting overboost and going into safe mode.

Try WD40 and manually move it back and forth a few times.

Ok I'll try that, would that not mean that it'd momentarily show more boost on nanocom?

It could be a whole array of things after a jet wash.. Id try and let it dry out a bit and try again if the waste gate isn't the issue..

Not the best diagnosis technique I know, but if drying it out is the key then give it a try, then if that is the case, you know you have water ingress into somewhere it shouldn't be and can look at better water proofing.. My 1986 90 is currently on a full rebuild, with new chassis, Paint etc.. Very much a hybrid, TD5 Chassis, tub & bulkhead with a 200TDI and LT77 GB Painted in Stornoway Grey Smile 2 years off the road, but getting close to completion now

I did a similar thing to mine a few weeks ago, had an issue with electrics, if I were you I'd go around it with some WD40 on all plugs, fiddle with the wastegate as MRD says, and if you have one - blow out any water with an airline, check inside the airbox to make sure its not wet too.

Unplug the MAF then take it for a drive. If it's runs normally that's your problem solved!

I had the same on mine and the difference is considerable.

Good luck
