take it the receiver ring is still fitted that normally sits around the ign switch , to fit the x eng you have to move it

possible its too far away

in practice the ring can be a few inches away and still work

is it the oringnal fob , has someone replaced fob with non chipped one , im sure the non chipped ones still work but only on buttons

Turn off the passive immobiliser (with a diagnostic tool). Your vehicle will become vastly more reliable.

Thats it that fixed it. I can simulate the issue by putting the fob in the cup holder, it then starts once you join them together again.

The receiver ring is less than an inch from its original position.

This is a 2014 vehicle that we've had from new so no, no one has replaced the fob

just sounds like fob or unit problem then

do you have 2 fobs ?

The ring maybe only 1" from it's original position but chances are if it's like mine with an X-Eng barrel lock fitted it'll now be lying flat instead of upright and potentially partially masked by it's new position. The field/signal it emits may not be as strong and the fob may not cut/enter that field as it once did requiring a more 'precise' position to do so? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
