Badge Adhesive
Looking for advice. I want to remove the oval plastic Land Rover badge from rear quarter panel. I shall use the heat gun to warm up the badge and adhesive and then remove it using dental floss to separate the badge from the backing/adhesive. The advice I am looking for is what is the best solvent to use to dissolve the adhesive and remove it from the paintwork. Obviously I do not want to be too aggressive as I don't want to damage the clear coat. Thanks

Any alcohol base stuff will get rid of it, I used petrol in the past.

Ideally get one of these , makes life so much easier.

These are fine in the right hands and used properly but just bear in mind that friction creates heat and heat can ruin your paint. Attack your paint with one of these on a high drill speed and too much effort and tears will follow.

Sorry not meaning to teach anyone to 'suck eggs' Mr. Green but you never know who might read this thread in the future.

Or just an automotive grade panel wipe. Its blooming handy stuff to have around for general degreasing and will cost you no more than £10-15 for 5LTR at a decent factors.

Don't use a heat gun unless it has a very low setting. I have used a hair dryer in the past with some success. Any solvent you use, no matter what, test first on a part of the paint work you cannot see. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

In this instance a very small amount of petrol would probably surfice.
Wear a pair of gloves and only use a small amount for safety's sake. (Not that you need telling) Very Happy

I think the angle grinder would only really work if you soften the adehsive with petrol first Thumbs Up

Having removed all the bonnet and tailgate lettering, number plate fixings and tailgate strips off numerous Range Rovers, I think I can handle it! It's not hard though.... 2016 D4 HSE
