the old classic range rover vogue nuts were solid and did last for ever , but rusted when bruised on the edges by a socket

stainless covered ones swell due to rust between the cover and the nuts steel inside , new they are 27mm ( 1.1/16 af size ), swollen 28mm will work but after a while the stainless cover can work lose and come off and get stuck in the socket ( hard to remove at roadside ), then with no stainless cover you need a 26mm socket ( not a common size )

rust proofed mine always and never had a problem

I actually like the sound of them lasting forever so when a friend of mine sold his last set to someone else, I decided to get the solid ones from another friend.

I guess this means I should already be changing them out, huh?

as said the old style ones did last , but rusted on the edges when used and didn't look as pretty as the later stainless covered ones

OEM Nut is 27mm the 28mm is a get around

Just buy new 27mm nuts I'm sure Mal (K9) will provide the relevant link to a great aftermarket supplier

Interesting solutions, but I think I can categorize those under "nice to have" rather than "must have." Nice to know they're out there though.

Thanks!

I've actually been mulling it over last night and am thinking that since I already have the solid wheel nuts that I should use them first and while they are on, I should already start saving up of the wrington ones for when the said corrosion appears.

Now you have said it......i removed both front wheels yesterday to fit my new LOF brakes kit Very Happy

And upon putting the wheels back on the nuts did struggle to go in the socket and i remember them being a bit looser when removed.....so yes nuts do swell Embarassed Shocked Rolling with laughter 2016 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8
