Vets perform operation on elephant by land rover headlights
Shame they are not on here (well i think they might not be!) but i think this story would be just about one of the best:

Friday was fuel pump out time again on my Td5, it hiccupped coming back from the morning school run on an uphill pull. As I had more time to investigate I think I've found the major cause. I have suffered quite a bit with the black slime in the bottom of the tank so I took a closer look at the gauze filter at the bottom of the pump.

The picture above shows some shaded areas and when looked at closely it was apparent that the "holes" were actually blind. So a couple of hours later with a pin I have now opened them all up. The pump is an aftermarket one via Bearmach and works well and quietly so now I hope that it will suck more evenly and not get slowed down so easily when under load, only time will tell.
Today I had an hour or so to kill before picking up my eldest from his respite and decided to fit the USB socket that's been sat around for months. As it is a permanent live from the auxiliary battery I wanted a switch in the circuit so I can choose when it's on. Certainly a neater job plus with the higher amp output it charges the phone quicker. I also had a play with attaching my android phone to the head unit via a lead with a Jack plug and AV Din connectors to the radio. Why oh why did the online wiring diagram tell me to join the phone to the AV out plugs I don't know as it works perfectly now I have used the AV in plugs.
Now I can use the music player on the phone plus the head unit works as a hands free. With the phone mounted in a windscreen holder with the headphone socket going to the radio to act as speaker, the phones own microphone is good to pick up my voice without getting up close to it.
In all happy to get the little jobs that mean so much out of the way.

For the first time since February I have been able to drive more than five mile without feeling dizzy. Took the 110 for a 100 mile round trip drive over the North York Moors towing a trailer.

Its surprising how the smallest of medical treatments can make a difference. Two scans showed nothing, a look inside the right ear showed a large build of of wax, now that's gone no dizzy spells. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.

Fitted a Nakatanenga Under Cubby box for my electrics but found it raised the height of the cubby box by 130cm, far too much. All sorted now, Cool over all height is ~5cm above factory. Cool

4 hubs, 2 half shafts, all wheel bearings, brake pistons and pads. OMO should be fettled for the 2 trips to UK and a couple over the alps. I think it was Splügen that did it for the brakes! Thanks furianer (Richard) who asked ... where did all the mud and grass come from in the bearings? That's be the Salisbury Plain Xmas trip .. Whistle Sold the much modified 110 2.8, in Oz
