That's sick Shocked

I guess the cut wires are preventing the engine immobiliser and ECU from functioning normally so the engine can't run. Mad

All the more reason to wire in a bespoke additions, set up with some other tweaks too regarding keeping things powered up from being cut off.

I'm thinking about a few options now.

All we need is for them to get stuck up a mountain.

Can't quite believe the world we live in these days.

Unfortunately, this is not the first rescue team to be hit by the lowlife. Was it the Edale team hit earlier this year? Then one of the RNLI team hit at Morecome Bay. (OK I might have the wrong teams named, if so I apologise) These Land Rovers/equipment are parked up/stored at known locations and will not be checked on, on a daily/hourly basis

Until the courts start to punish these scumbags properly for what they are. These scumbags are members of organised crime syndicates which plan their activities and have a pipeline in placed to move the stolen goods onwards. A member of an organised crime gang stealing £50,000+ would on being found guilty will be going to prison for a few years. Until the courts recogonise that these lowlife are members of organised criminal gangs that are responsible for multi million £ thefts and punish them correctly this problem will persist.

I saw this pop up on my Facebook news feed this morning. Can't believe how low some people are!!!

Is it a good idea for them to posting pictures of these cables? I didn't know by cutting those cables it would disable the alarm...........I do now!! The spawn of AndrewS

Clearly serious damage done there but they must have been disturbed if they've left a door on the floor. Hopefully, there are some leads for the police to follow up on.

Someone should tell them about putting ball bearings in the door bolts if they didn't already know.

I'm not trying to sound too smart but you only have to take a look around your Defender and see exposed power cables and the ease of ways to get round the security that is put on by the manufacturer. I do believe that pictures should be shown to help Defender enthusiasts who have little mechanical knowledge understand how these scum get away with their pride and joys. With modern cars with their monocoque constructions, wiring is all kept within the bodywork whereas on the Defender the wiring is a bit of an afterthought, pipework is exposed as there is no paneling to cover it.
The more aware owners are of the security shortfalls then the more concerted to fight against the thieves can be.

Often wondered about the safety of Llanberis Defenders they are parked in a very remote area. Every time I pass them about twice a week I think they are vulnerable to thieves.

If these are the two, then I think we've seen one of them on here before.

The second MRT Defender is due out of the body shop today so hopefully will be back on station soon ready to respond to whatever is thrown at the Llanberis MRT

Whilst the vehicles have been out of action they have taken the 'opportunity' to upgrade some of the vehicles. We got a phone call asking to buy some items to upgrade their vehicles. A request for an email from Llanberis MRT which duels arrived and the parts were donated and delivered the following day. Some items we did not stock so a quick email to Peter at Nakatanenga and it took all of 8 minutes to get a return email saying that the items were been shipped FOC that day. Many thanks Peter Thumbs Up

Bearing in mind that those vehicles have full external cages, if they have to be parked up in vulnerable places I would be inclined to fit a long bar on each side, secured with a good padlock, that runs along the waistline from the front hoop to the C post hoop. It would be easy to do, and with the bar in place the doors could not be opened or removed. It would be quick to remove with the padlock key. Admittedly it could be cut, but it would slow the little scrotes down and it would be noisy. Maybe the bars could be tubular and presssurised with propane so that the cutter gets a nasty surprise.

The only good thing about a depressing incident like this one is that it also serves to remind us that, although the world is riddled with sub-human scum who really aren't fit to share the planet with the rest of us and whom any sensible society wouldn't tolerate, it is also filled with good, generous and kind-hearted people who rally round after an event like this. As someone who spent many of my younger years working with a volunteer cave rescue team, I would like to thank all of those associated with this forum who have helped Llanberis MRT in its hour of need and, by means of their generosity, reminded us that there is an awful lot of good in the world still! Thumbs Up
