Damn it Mal you're far too good with the search......

Front axle is now more of a precaution with the know issues ie recall on the casing and the 2pin diff on the front so gonna replace it whole.

It all makes sense now....pulling off and then it all dieing (probably dropped into lo range and hence sensitivity of pedals changed, the adjusting of the hi/lo linkage probably knocked the hi/lo switch wiring and hence seemed to fix things)

All the f'in about and it seems to have been 2 simple things - battery and hi/lo switch.
Thumbs Up

why would it only do it when you pulled away ?
if it went into low range setting , you would of had idle jack happen ?
battery terminal would show on starting more than anything when drawing highest amps , not seen you say bad starting ?

hmm fixed Whistle

Shocked

you're absolutely right about the idle jack .... when it's happened in first gear it's been alright for the first few yards then died as changing into 2nd gear so I'm not sure?

the only other times I'm aware of is when I've been driving along and then there's what has felt like a loss of power but in hindsight I think it's been a loss of pedal sensitivity (presumably due to the lo range triggering)?

it would seem there may still be some questions to answer..... and dare I say it I drove over to see my parents earlier and took my dad for a spin to demonstrate how well things were..... and even he commented on how smooth and quiet it was.

then when I left I suggested he listened from the outside as I drove off 'quickly'............ Crying or Very sad - (why it sounder clattery)

oh joy.....the neighbours must love me....LOVE me....

almost 11.30 last night and I had to resort to getting the grinder out to remove 1 of the 8 nuts holding the front prop in place.

any how I got it out Thumbs Up

and it's on 'trial'.......... Mr. Green

prop is fine .....just fine. Very Happy

my concern is what's connected to it.

surprisingly the slack in the rear seems considerably more obvious now (didn't expect that) - must sort the flanges out asap.

also on the plus side (albeit this is from a short trial only this morning), the unpleasant tram-lining when slowing down seems to have gone and the general feel seems much more pleasant? will be putting a few more miles on it yet without the prop but I wouldn't have expected def to feel any different really (tanking it yes but while driving like Miss Daisy wouldn't have thought there would be any obvious difference other than perhaps the gear change being a little different)?

Time to give Munch a breather. He's the only one listening now. Page 9 of this thread just about sums up the whole scenario. Sell it Wayne I'll chip in for a group buy and we could give it a good send off in the crusher.
