Yes, it'd work sounds okay.
I'd be a bit concerned about underpowering the sub though, better than over powering but ideally they should be an RMS match give or take I'd say a max of +/- 10% difference. My sub is slightly over powered by about 8% ish, so bearing that slightly in mind I keep the output on it slightly lower than you would normally but I have full consistence in my subs durability so I don't have to worry much. |

Not sure if this would work.
The other option I think I read is to power the far rear? direct from the HU via the normal speaker cable. For hopefully far rear fill? Then amplify the two 165's and 100krs up front via the 4ch amp and then a dedicated sub amp?? Would that work or would the ones at the back be too quite |

That wouldn't sound right as they need to match really.
You can but it will be out of balance. You want a four Chanel Amp for your front and rear speakers with front and rear speakers of the same output then a dedicated sub amp. So a four Chanel amp for speakers and a mono for the sub.  |

I think your right.
3 pairs plus a sub would probably be overkill. I see a set of focal KRS hitting ebay soon! I am halfway through replacing the fronts at the moment so all very exciting. |

OK so focals upfront are fitted. Just run off the HU for now, will be amplifying them when I get time to strip out the interior for sound deadening and carpet so I can run the wires for the amp properly.
Questions best way to secure the crossovers??? I have them tucked alongside the edge of the dash and I did stuff some wadding in there as well behind the speaker to try and stop rattles and sound reflection and that holds it in place but has anyone actually screwed it down in there. Jim - What have you bought now.
Snowy - On my Puma I stuck a clean cloth up there.   to remove dust etc then got some good quality self adhesive Velcro pads. (Large ones)
Then stuck the lot to the inner dash plastic flat face. (The part that you see as you open the door the flat bit only the inner side. If you do need to remove which I doubt you will you should be able to pull it off the Velcro. Never hear anything of mine.. Jim's solution is fine if you want to drill and on a TD5 but some X overs don't have screw mounting. (Mine didn't) And on a Puma I'm not sure where or how you would do that as there are a lot of gubbins behind there with little space. It's worth making sure the wires aren't tangled with anything else if you should ever want the dash removed or it might pull wires around.

Anyone had any experience with the Pioneer DEH-X5700BT or similar?
I'm in a more or less factory standard 2005 TD5 110 XS and to be honest, the soundtrack from the engine keeps me smiling, but for longer journeys I'd like some music. Given that most radio stations play mostly rubbish (in between adverts or ego swelling) this means CDs or the iPod... I'd also like to be legal if I get a phone call whilst driving. The LR fitted CD radio and speakers seem to make a decent enough noise, certainly it can be heard over the din of the engine even on the motorway. I can't justify the cost of a Clarion with SatNav and bells and whistles, so I am after a unit for no more than £100 which does the following: 1. Play CDs 2. Play and charge an iPod 3. Have Bluetooth for hands-free calling The benefit of the Pioneer above is that it does those three things and apparently allows 2 phones to be connected at one time - sounds handy. Any thoughts, alternative suggestions etc. welcome. I'm hoping to get one ordered today if I can so that I can fit at the weekend... |

Steve, my crossovers are in the same place I think I will have a clean out and use the Velcro idea as well. I assume the lower section of the dash doesn't come off like Jims picture in a TD5? They do sound good still running them in but cant wait to get the 165's in and the sub that will complete the story! |

Matching colours too to the Defender's green dash lighting, foes the other? Only thing it doesn't do I think* is two phones at the same time. Snowy - Yes, the TD5 dash is different. Only access in the Puma is though the speaker hole or pull the whole dash out. Which is a major job just for one item to fit. There are also strengthening bars on the Puma similar to a roll cage on the bulkhead too which limits room and flat areas further. |

Cool - thanks for the tip - looked at the Kenwood in comparison, it doesn't do two phones at once and the Pioneer can change its colour...
Just really wondering if anyone has had problems with the brand in general or has a similar model they're happy with? |

You're probably best setting up your own thread stating the model number as not so many will see it here.
There probably is others that have that model or similar or alternatively search the net for reviews. It's no good me commenting as I've never had a Pinoneer myself but it is indeed a premium brand like the rest. |
