Yesterday there was a trip below the M4 to meet Derrickthedefender, cheers Ben and no I haven't fitted the wheelcarrier yet! Hope you have got all your spannering sorted and ready for your trip up north.
As it was so close it only seemed fair to have a bimble Click image to enlarge While trundling along we saw an interesting Santana Click image to enlarge Again astonished at the volume of traffic on the A303, hardly any breaks so I ended up squeezing in the east bound jam and going all the way round Larkhill again as there were another couple of ordinary motors that were behind me stoppt me from turning round. Round to where the TRO was in place on the lanes up to the German Village. Check and double check the notice Click image to enlarge Then carried on to the notorious mud hole Click image to enlarge Much different plus it looks as though a big machine has roughly graded the potholed tracks and they were holding no water in them even after the previous nights rain. The 110 had one of those "milestone" readings on the clock Click image to enlarge Today we had a different type of greenlane, we were up at sparrows fart to help set up and marshal at Hereford's Cancer Research UK Race for Life Click image to enlarge All in all a busy weekend and all in the Defender! |

Had a really good day at Rockingham Castle Land Rover Experience on Saturday with a great bunch of like-minded Landy fanatics...
We had the pleasure of Ed Cobley showing us the ropes on this extensive off-road site in Northamptonshire in the grounds of Rockingham Castle... And the best bit - it rained all day and really made an ordinary day into a damn fine time, despite the soggy socks... I would thoroughly recommend this day to anyone thinking about getting some off-road learning and experience in before venturing out on their own, extremely informative, great fun and run by knowledgable instructors... Removing clear coat overspray / orange peel on my OE grille painted.
Bit of W&D too. Would be an easy job if it wasn't for the awkwardness of the shape of the thing it's a right pig but it's coming up well. The headlight surrounds should be easy in comparison. Next time I think I'll pain each item individually. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

Yesterday while the truck was in bits on the ramp I had a good look at the steering guard. The stainless bolts and alloy guard has reacted, so all off, cleaned down and out came the duralac paste .. It'll be ok now
Rear step needs to come off next weekend ..again just to check |

Found the courage to get the HD steering bars fitted,
Half way through the job I had to nip into work in the company car to grab a ball pin splitter, managed to get the job done then a quick drive round the block to check the tracking.......... Almost a mile from home the nsr wheel bearings seem to have collapsed and the wheel seized screeching as I pulled over to a halt They have only just been fitted along with a brand new stub axel last week and have done 8 miles!! I'm effing raging!! G My confidence has been writing cheques that my abilities can't cash for years. |

I love everything in that photo Maybe not the guy in the passenger seat, but that's probably only because I've never met him |
