2.2 Puma one cm square rubber strip dangling under radiator
Hi folks, I just found a cm square soft rubber strip about 20" long dangling from the area below the radiator.
Anybody got any idea where it came from Question
Thanks. 2.2 90 XS

I believe there is supposed to be such a strip somewhere near the top of the radiator between it and the cowling? 1995 300tdi Defender 90 P/UP

Yeah, had the same issue, in my case was a strip of foam that goes between the top of the radiator and the top plastic cover.

All I did was to remove the top cover and glue the strip back in place using double sided tape, job done Thumbs Up

Does it look like this?

if so, then it's as stated above and fits underneath the fan shroud. Glue they use must be quite poor, I'm thinking the shroud was taken off for the recall for the intercooler hose bracket that bolts to the side of the alternator. I also found that the lower shroud had not been clipped in properly to one of the two lower clips, so you might want to check that whilst you are there!

I've been meaning to post a similar thread about my 2.4 because that bit of foam fell out and I couldn't find where it came from. There isn't a slot that's quite the right size anywhere!

Does it matter if left out? I've done a few thousand miles without it but could put it back somewhere.

Have you tried fitting it in the groove under the fan shroud?

I think it's just there so stop the plastic rattling against the metal but there is also the plastic tube that links the expansion tank to the rest of the cooling system and you wouldn't want the two of them coming into contact.

I'd put it back in to be sure.
