Was having my tracking checked the other day and got chatting to the other chap waiting. He was having a new sump fitted to his fiat. Not sure if same model as yours but said it was quite common.

My brother and his partner run a Alfa Romeo garage,
Only working on Italian cars, and motor bikes, what he doesn't know about Fiats and Alfas isn't worth knowing! I'm seeing him tonight, I will as the question.........  80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Thanks. I had a quick look at the car on the way home. Looks like its had paint job on the rear (badly, or it could be faded/patchy paintwork) the front head light/bonnet dont line up like the other side and the keyfob gave me odd moments. Pressing the fob to lock, sounded like it did but still unlocked. Pressed the unlock and then relock and then locked.

Right, had a chat with brother.
Apparently, the gear box bearings are made of the finest Italian ice cream!, they DO fail eventually. Power steering column, ECU can give a few problems? (Typical fiat, Alfa problem so I'm told!) Apart from that and oil leaks, and the usual wear, that's about all I was told. Doesn't sound too different from owning a Land Rover...
