I managed to source some brand new OEM Puma XS half leather heated seats from a LR dealer. Collected them today and fitted. I much prefer these seats, and they actually look great in this trim....for now anyway, until the re-trim.
The old Exmoor Elite (Mk1) will be sold. (PM if any interest - I will post on the forum before the usual channels). At some point I am getting the interior overhauled - soundproof, new carpet, re-trim all 6 seats, plus hopefully fit new OEM window switches (is it possible to get single flush mounting to the centre cubby?) and heated windscreen/heated seat switches also in the cubby - still working through some ideas. I'm just living with it at the moment, and a few bits I might need to sort out first. First of which is the screen - any recommendations on fitting a heated front screen and wiring loom around South London? Anyway, some pictures with the new seats: Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge I also picked up a new rubber load mat to fit with the roll cage, and a new wheel cover. I just need to work out how to get the "Nene" body sticker off the paintwork now - any ideas? recommendations? Hi Aaron,
I fitted the Td5 dash to mine - more room for swtches! I wanted to use Land Rover parts wherever I could - Range Rover Classic, Freelander 1 or Disc 1/2. On the doors I fiited RR red indicators and white versions as footwell puddle lights. My rear seats are kid friendly forward facing Exmoors - early Tilt & Fold version in the XS trim they are also heated. The switches are mounted in the centre tunnel console, housed in the Disco rear door window trim bezel - the window switches are the same size as the Freelander heated seated switch. As the Exmoor heat pads are two stage I had to fit a second switch , so the LR switch turns them on and the rocker switch activates the higher setting (orange light glows to indicate) The other switch on the console turns on the inverter to give 240 power with the IEC socket. A few more ideas for you ...... I have lots more photos over on the defender50th forum. Cheers Simon ------------------------- 50th D90 - my toy! Hi Simon,
Thanks for the details in your post, even more to think about! I'm also trying to stick to OEM parts. I will search on 50th Forum for you post. I think might have come across it, I recognise a few pictures there. The main problem is that it seems I need an endless pot of cash now Everything you have done looks fantastic. Good to see the pictures with the options. I will have to decide and prioritise what I need and can do now. ex-MY1998 Defender 50th GB343 5.0L JE Supersports MY2000 TVR Griffith 500 MY2003 TVR Cerbera SP6 |

New fuel gauge fitted.
A big thanks to Dan at Duckworth for sending over the part so quickly. The job took no more than 5mins and solved the bouncing fuel gauge issue. Well worth it. I just need to get a new surround or prise off the old one. Flat Battery
Oh the joy of a flat battery. Checking history looks like it must be about 6 years old, so no surprise to find the side of the battery bowing out! I was going to get the Bosch S5 020 920cca/110Ah which I had in my old RR S/C, probably a tight squeeze though. I ended up replacing it with a Bosch S4 013 800cca/95Ah - it was the biggest they had in CostCo, reasonable price of £89.98. So far so good, I will see how it goes. The replacing of the battery also seems to have cured my air con not working - I guess maybe the ECU resets and now the air con seems to be okay...all a bit odd.. ex-MY1998 Defender 50th GB343 5.0L JE Supersports MY2000 TVR Griffith 500 MY2003 TVR Cerbera SP6 |

New Stereo and Lower Dash Trim
The previous owner installed Parrot CK3000 with the Alpine CDE-7860R. When they installed the separate buttons for the Parrot, it messed up the lower dash fixing near the instrument binnacle and was to feed the cable from behind the dash. I decided to replace everything with the Alpine CDE-178BT head unit, all in one Bluetooth and hands free. I already have one in my TVR and it is very good for the money, links easily to iPhone and you can run Spotify. At the same time I bought some JBL GTO629 speakers for the front and rear doors. Another big thanks to Dan for supplying the replacement lower dash trim AWR5988. I replaced the dash trim at the same time. Nice job!
I must say, the air con controls in yours are much more sensibly located than on mine, stuck down my right knee and completely out of sight when driving - I generally operate it by feel! |

Yeah, as Matt says - I think because the 50th was a NAS spec.
I must admit, untangling all the wires that were stuffed behind the centre panel was a fun job! The list of things to get done before a re-trim and new carpet seems to grow all the time. I haven't forgotten Matt, just a few other things have taken over for the moment... ex-MY1998 Defender 50th GB343 5.0L JE Supersports MY2000 TVR Griffith 500 MY2003 TVR Cerbera SP6 |

Looks great! I would be very interested in further details about the Roll over Bar that you have fitted please! The installation looks great... is it on 'the back of' the bulkhead removal 'kit'? Cheers, Pete YOLO... You Only Live Once... |

Hi Yolo,
The picture is of my 50th Anniversary Defender. All these vehicles had a roll over bar fitted as standard (factory fit) and with the bulkhead behind the seats removed. They were based on the NAS Defender 90. As I understand the bar - internal and external was produced by Safety Devices http://www.safetydevices.com/expedition/pr...efender+90|300Tdi|1994|1997&variant=3-door|Station+Wagon|&cageno= Cheers Simon ------------------------- 50th D90 - my toy!
