First mods

Just got the 90 last week, so still finding my feet with it. New window wipers fitted, a net to keep the dogs in the back rather than a steel guard, removed one of the rear benches and fitted a storage box on the wheelbox - utilised the fixing bolts for the recently removed seat so my box will stay put - looks better than having a ratchet or bungee strap holding it in. Plenty plans for it to get it the way I want it, but are they ever really the way we want them?? Just keep modding I suppose.

Welcome to the forum RoddyK05 Smile

I think I understand why you have used a net, however, in the event of a collision the dog guard is designed to stop your dog or dogs hurtling towards the front window or your head at the speed you were going before the collision. And of course to stop unruly dogs jumping into the drivers space!
By omitting to use a steel guard you are losing a pretty good safety device. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Saturday i fitted some towing eyes to the side of my 90 to use as lash down eyes for when carrying stuff on the roof ( which i will be soon ) just need 4 more as i want to replace the odd ones i have on now as they are hard to get hold of now and are dam expensive for what they are, i also want to fit one to either side of the rock slider's once i get them and want to fit them to the front wing end of the rock slider's so i can lash down there aswell.

then this morning i decided to fit my CB in and make a bracket to fix the twig to the front bumper and found two screws where i think a p o had a cb aswell which made life a little easier, all i need now is a DV mount as i sold my other one when i sold my s11a swb many years ago Big Cry

all pic's can be seen on the LZ forum in what have you done to your landy today Thumbs Up Graham

Used a net as I wanted to be able to remove it quickly if I wanted to climb over, or even reach over into the rear. Wasn't using it as a safety device as such, more to discourage the dogs from joining me in the front when ever they fancy. They are mature now ( 10 & 7 ) so it shouldn't take long before they realise their place in life Shocked Had a steel guard in my Discoveries as I had no need to get into the rear compartment other than through the door, but they only fixed at the bottom. Does the Defender one have stays to pick up on the top seatbelt mounts etc? If just fixed at the bottom I would imagine the combined weight of the dogs of roughly 70kgs would be enough to mangle the fixings in the event of a very sudden deceleration, possibly having them end up in the front along with the dog guard? Are accessories crash tested with the vehicle, or are we all living in hope that they are as good as their manufacturers say they are. Rolling Eyes

Fair point. I very much doubt that Land Rovers dog guards are crash tested. Though they are pretty tough, along with their fixings. A steel dog guard would, however, give a lot more protection than a net. Wink For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Fitted new fuel fill hose after neighbour pointed out large pool of fuel on the drive last week, why is it that when I have a choice of 2 hoses that may be leaking I always get it wrong. Big Cry Never mind the Inde can have it next week to drop the tow bar and tank to do the right one. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.

Where did you get net from, just what I'm after for same reason as dog guard rather than steel one which I did have in but restricted access to rear
Cheers

The net was from Amazon, called something like "me and my car pet safety net", or words to that effect. It's not the strongest net, only about £3.95, but it was just a deterrent I was after. I had another net I picked up years ago - very srtongly woven and like a thick trawler net, but that took some finding by looking at various websites etc. As I said, this one was cheap but suits what I needed it for.

Been painting my grille and light surrounds. Flatted the primer today.
Paint I was expecting didn't turn up but at least I've got panel wipe anyway so makes no difference.
