Am I just being dim or am I missing something, can't find anything shield related anywhere near the prop...

Hi, I should have put a reply on the forum when I got it sussed... whoops.
But it turned out to be the roll pin in the rear diff that had worked itself loose. |

What is the roll pin in the rear diff and how did you find this out? |

Well, I could be wrong so feel free to correct me, but I beleive it locates the pinion gear, and because the pin is harder than the casing it fits into it wears the hole & makes it bigger... Although I could be wrong.
I went for a drive with a mechanic from the dealers who knew exactly what it was right away. I have a picture of an older diff that blew on my old 90 somewhere, that shows the roll pin.. I'll see if I can dig it out when I get home. |
