Regardless of photo-shop or conjecture they could do a lot worse IMO. Time will tell I suppose. Dirty Deeds - Done Dirt Cheap

All I can think is the next defender must be driving around with a discovery or Range Rover shell on it because someone would have seen it and it's suppose to be signed off

It might be driving around with a current defender shell on it. Now that would be ace!

My nephew is one of a team taking several different Defender replacement prototypes out to Abu Dabi in April for evaluation purposes. JLR apparently do not have a definitive final model design confirmed yet.

Interesting info Max. Would 'evaluation purposes' relate to mechanics or cosmetics I wonder?
After reading on LandRoverScene forum about an expedition to Siberia in the replacement Defender planned for early 2015 (thanks Dolomite), it is odd hearing there isn't a definitive design confirmed yet. |

They are flying out a random panel of the public (no journalists) to go over them for comments on design, comfort, trim levels, options etc. Not sure if it involves actually driving them. Middle East has been chosen for anonymity. He tried to get me included but no luck! |

and another of Gerry McG's quotes: "He went further, describing the current crop of ute-based SUVs – such as the Ford Ranger and Everest – as being so different to the Defender that it’s like comparing a “Patek Phillipe with a Timex”. although a far better quote from the newly appointed JLR group engineering director, Nick Rogers: "At the end of the day, the guys that love Defender – as long as it’s got that pioneering spirit, as long as it’s incredible off-road, as long as it’s a stunning vehicle – they’ll be happy. That’s all they want it to be. They want it to be awesome. And so do we.” |
