I've heard the "Overseas" option, & I "poo-pood" it,...but if I'm wrong, I'm wrong.
However, if it was made overseas, how does that scenario get over the airbag & emission problem that will prevent Defenders from being registered in the majority of markets in the future?

land rover will probably just sellotape a balloon to the steering wheel.

or register the defender as a truck, or maybe sell it as a kit car haha Cheers, David

Personal import and IVA, perhaps.

I also wonder if they did carry on making it overseas for developing countries, whether they would continue to use the TDCI engine including all the electronics?

Could be more maintainable and cheaper to stick in some TATA diesel.

Not sure that would be such an attractive proposition either.

Didn't the old Hindustan Ambassador (which was once the Morris Oxford) fail emissions in the UK, which prevented anyone importing it back to the UK?

Given that it's rumoured to be based on the D7 platform of the new Range Rover & Range Rover Sport, and Mr Gerry has gone on record as saying it will carry over design cues from these models, and it will have a pickup variant; then this is not a bad starting point:

They will be using their own "Ingenium" (maybe not spelt right?) engines that will be built in various capacities will they not?

^ that would be great! That way we could swap the 2.0 4cyl for a 2.5 5 or a 3.0 6 surely as they use the same ancillaries presumably? Cheers, David

Not to mention that the 2.0 would presumably be a peach of an engine anyway!

Although we may be getting ahead of ourselves here! Cheers, David
