While I do not like the look of the Heritage, I actually think that has a better chance than the autobiography. The downside being the numbers produced. The autobiography is a tough one as it doesn't really serve a purpose. I just can't see them appreciating to any considerable value when they already attract a £30k premium from new. Only have to look at the 50th, that had something different to a tarted up interior and now attracts strong money for a good one. The SVX carries a small premium. But these were all not inflated in price when buying new.
The other problem is the cost needed to ensure condition is perfect. These cars deteriorate in condition quickly unless stored in good conditions and kept dry. Who would pay £70-100k for a defender with a few leather add one in 5-15 years time? Can't see the speculation in the autobiography worthwhile. My gut feeling is a standard defender would be a good bet and believe there will be a further special model nearer the end of production. |

Land Rover has said that these 3 are the end of production models. They have been quoted saying they wanted to do just one model but couldn't decide. I doubt very much they would be able to justify a price tag higher than the Autobiography.
Additionally, Land Rover have put in their bulletin that they believe the Autobiography will be THE Defender to collect. That said, mine will never go off road so it isn't exactly going to be used as a true Defender. My Td5, however....! |

As shiney as the paint might be, I wonder if they've painted under the rear body cappings, or in the gap between the wing outers and wing tops, or indeed any other space that the eye can't see....

For that kind of money and not being a numbered edition to me is a poor show.
I could make the changes to mine for a fraction of the price and pass it off as an autobiography. Personally the bowler is a better investment. |

While up at the London Boat Show with work I saw this Autobiography too.
To be entirely honest, I was disappointed. I've attached some photos below. The paintwork was atrocious, okay, so better than usual defender standards, but nothing to shout about - look at the top of the grille panel and look at the orange peel. Also, the interior, while nicely stitched, still had very poor trimming at the bottom - would it have killed them to have used some entreq style sill plates to cover up the gaps?
