Sat in a Defender Autobiography
Was at the London Boat Show today and there is an Autobiography there. Absolutely stunning. Bering Grey/Santorini Black finish with Ebony/Ivory inside.

The paint quality is excellent - far better than my Range Rover. The interior is excellent with leather headlining and deep pile carpets.

The seats are very comfortable but the extra padding on the cubby box made access to the gear stick harder.

I am glad I chose Ebony/Tan as Ivory was already looking worn out.

Will post some pictures when I can work out how!

Am I missing something, aren't these very nice, albeit very pricey, cars still going to leak and be subject to all the other endearing features which make a Defender a Defender and not, well, a Range Rover?

This isn't a dig at the run-out models by the way. The Defender just seems the most inappropriate base vehicle to turn into a swanky leather palace.

Each to their own, just my humble view, carry on ... Very Happy

I like it - but the pricing is just crazy. Well Done LR for shifting the lot.

They didn't need to because as they knew they would, people were willing to pay £60k to buy a piece of history in the form of 1/80 'luxury' Defenders (myself included)!

However, I am disappointed to learn that they will NOT be numbered...

Will be very annoyed if this means LR is building more than 80 for the UK.

I can't see how these will be 'the defender' that becomes the collectors item once production is finished.

As a defender owner I like the interior, however it will still be noisy and unrefined, possibly will leak etc. will need to strip it out and soundproof etc if want a little refinement.

It's not where I would put £60k believing to be a piece of history.

Collectability, in my opinion, is all about desirability. Whilst the Classic and Adventure are lovely cars, producing just 80 Autobiography models makes things much more exclusive. Moving forwards, I believe they will all be collectable in their own rights. However, I do feel the Heritage is way too basic of a spec to be a collectable in the future as such. The Defender is already dated and in the future not having things like A/C or a radio will put most buyers off IMO.
