Puma EGR fault
Very Happy Hi all just registered so may not get this first attempt correct?
Got a MIL light on my 2007 Puma pickup, plugged in the Hawk, fault EGR,
replaced this week end, fault sorted. Dismantled the old EGR and found the issue
to be electrical connection to EGR drive motor badly pited and high resistence.
Cleaned connections and re-established working EGR, could have saved myself
some money. I hope this may help any one else with a silmilar fault. Bwlchgwyn

Smile Hi all, yes my warranty is up, the cost of the EGR and gaskets was £101 from a main Landrover dealer
in Chester UK. I could have got the parts off EBay for a little less. I wanted to get the fault sorted quickly,
the main dealer had it on the shelf, 1 hours round trip for me to the main dealer. Bwlchgwyn

Old Yella,

Welcome to the site and interesting post from a fellow 'EGR Valve problem sufferer.' I would also do as you have done buy a new one and then investigate the old. I could not afford the 'downtime' not to buy a new and rip the old one apart trying to fix it.
Historically I knew my EGR Valve was on the way out and it was my intention of removing it and using brake cleaner to thoroughly clean it. I never found the time to do that before it gave up the ghost and I had to call LR Assist in the end and have a replacement fitted under warranty! My noisy EGR valve was "fixed" by being lubricated by all the oil pi**ing from the brake vacuum pump!

You think yours was noisy ! I,m traveling with my landy at the min and every time I turn the engine off in a public place you should see the looks I get!! It sounds like a choking cat! And getting worse by the day. I,ll will be of to the stealer when I get back . I have been told that new egr valves are modified in some way as to stop these probs. Thumbs Up 2008 110 County utility

That's exactly how mine died - at least the dealer could hear it loud and clear.
The new one looks different on the outside to the old one but can't put my finger on exactly what - I think it has an additional hole going into the body of the EGR valve - will try and take a snap of the new valve tonight

If driving in too low a gear and at high revs is good for the EGR valve, mine will last for ever. The wife drives mine. Very Happy Very Happy 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

This is a picture of the new EGR valve - a bit jumbled because of all the pipes nearby.

It shows a hole about 19mm diameter from the top that I am not sure was there on the old one. Maybe someone can snap a pic of the older type (2007 model)
