James, you can come check on mine when you're around GB Maybe it is a fresh air intake, to allow people to blank off the EGR without the MIL coming on? |

I had my EGR replaced recently too - just checked mine - it's the same as Cape Landy's one in his photos - with the hole. I'm keen to find out if this is indeed a new modified part, because my LR dealer said they were the same - not that they aren't usually wrong! I can't remember what the old one looked like either.
On the good news front - my Puma has been trouble free for several months now, which, if anyone recalls my earlier posts - is very good news. I'm enjoying it now. |

Mine's also been very good.
I saw on my printout that they did also another software update at the time of my EGR valve. That might also explain while there was such a difference when she came back. Now I am scraping together all the overtime I can to afford the extended warenty although the exclusions are a bit scary considering it's a puma. |

Well - my new EGR took all of a few months to again raise it's ugly head - engine surges on/off throttle. Still waiting to discover the best blanking solution - we have 3 it seems, Robofarmer, Bell and the German fellow. I can't believe these EGR valves are so prone to causing issues.
Add to this - oil weeping from new transfer case flange seal. Is it the LR mechanics - or these vehicles? The unfortunate pattern of getting at the most 8 weeks without failure is alive and well. |

Yes, that is the symptom mine had - sounded a bit like a cricket with a silencer chirping near the fuel rail and revs were a little eratic and mostly ony when cold - gets much worse over a few weeks so that when you shut down the engine when cold it sounds like loose spanners clanging about |
