United Kingdom 1995 Defender 90 300 Tdi SW Arles Blue
Body wrapping Defender 90
Recently I bought a 90 for green laning and as a project to work on in the little spare time I have. The paint work needs a bit of attention and I would like to change the colour as there are various different coloured panels on her at the moment. However, I don't want pay a fortune on a complete respray just to scratch it up taking it through hedges and trees.

Based on this I was considering using a body wrap as I have heard good things about them.

Has anyone had any experience with them, and if so would you recommend a brand or type. Also what is the rough cost and is it something you can do yourself or should you go to a specialist company.

Wrap can be a real nightmare to remove should it get tatty (which it will, quickly, if as you suggest, you "drive it thru hedges") or you get bored with it,buying highest quality (3m) wrap is your best bet. If it was me I'd sand the paintwork down and paint it with a roller, with a bit of practice you can get quite a good finish using satin finish also touching up any future marks will be a doddle. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

Send a PM to Ellebarto. I don't know whether he still has it on, but it looked a good job

If it was me Id do like JimBob said get it nicely rubbed down and remove/ mask up as much as you can. As your local get a big can of Nato green or sand from Witham SV or your local paint supplier and brush/ roll it. Youll get a good enough finish for a land rover easily Thumbs Up Defender puma dormobile camper

I am trying to make my 90 one color too, but driving it has higher priority. I roll it with cheap paint. for less then 50 pounds I think I will have the 90 in one color. I am afraid however that parts might be damaged before it is painted completely. Whistle

Coach paint from Turners, will last well, is designed to be brushable and rollable and they will mix whatever colour you want. Doesn't come out concours but reasonable finish and you won't cry when you drag it down a hedge Smile mines been on 4 years now and just gets an annual touch up.

I think top is pre fitting and below post fitting a rear only hoop as I can't see it through the window.

Could be wrong though! Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197
