I don't know what the official compression figures are for a puma but 21 bar sounds ok. You say the egr has been removed, as others have said I'd consult one of the experts on the puma to see if they have any ideas about it. When the Egr was removed did it have a custom map from somebody loaded ?
I would be very surprised if the Puma was worn to the extent of power loss at 200,000 K. If the injectors and turbo are also good id be thinking poor mapping, leaking boost pipes or maybe a carbon choked intake tract. Jonno |

Just a thought but if its now reaching 130 km/h that's 81.25 mph. My limiter kicks in at 82 ish, its not just easing back because it's hitting the speed limiter is it ?

I notice you say its now doing 2 km h less than it would before, to me that's negligible and might not signify any problem at all.

Silly question, but as it`s only lost a few km,s ( if I`am reading this right).
Have you changed any drive line components or wheels / tyres. Excuse the spelling I`am better with spanners and wires. |

fuel and air filter. OK done but the graphs look about right? Power graph seems OK, not torque graph very low Jonno When the Egr was removed did it have a custom map from somebody loaded ? Egr was blanked and "something" changed in the mapping I would be very surprised if the Puma was worn to the extent of power loss at 200,000 K. If the injectors and turbo are also good id be thinking poor mapping, ....or maybe a carbon choked intake tract. The air intake manifold was carbon choked, but was cleaned, not the engine cylinder head:could it be it? Just a thought but if its now reaching 130 km/h that's 81.25 mph. My limiter kicks in at 82 ish, its not just easing back because it's hitting the speed limiter is it ? I notice you say its now doing 2 km h less than it would before, to me that's negligible and might not signify any problem at all. Yes, but now, its a very long time to reach 130 km/h Martin Silly question, but as it`s only lost a few km,s ( if I`am reading this right). Have you changed any drive line components or wheels / tyres. Nothing changed Shax Get a remap without speed limiter, EGR etc.... May be Thank all guys for your reply and Merry Chrismas Gérard |

Hi,
I will checked for an intercooler leak but.... My local indy, who mainly maintains Defenders and made all the checks, told me that my engine is fine but he does not understand why this power loss. He talked to my maindealer Land Rover who answered that the engine is tired and the only solution is to change it ( a lot of £ !!!) In my view, there are no obvious signs (compression, smoke, oil consumption ..) showing a too tired engine. So, next week, I'll go to my maindealer LR for a standard ECU remaping . I'll see if it brings a change. Regards Gerard |
