I too have just fitted this kit, and find it great. The only thing I would say is it does tend to throw the door open quite hard, and does not have any damping at the end of the travel, this means the door swings fully open against the limit of travel in the strut. It puts a lot of strain on the body mounting. Best to catch the door and slow it down a little as it opens.

I fitted the Mudstuff one, also £75, last weekend, which looks identical to the earlier pics. With non standard lights or a larger wheel the positioning of the rivets is pretty crucial to control how far the door swings out, but my standard setup not too difficult. On short acquaintance well worth the 75 quid. One wife - livid

When the gas struts are new they can be a bit keen. We suggest that people control the opening of the rear door by just placing a hand on it as it opens rather then letting the door bang against the gas strut limit.
These gas struts can be ordered here We will have some at Peterborough if you want to save postage and if you preorder them you might even get a small discount

I've just fitted one of these and as people have said it does open quite fast! I'm a little concerned as I can see the wheel box flexing where the end of the srut connects with the body work via the new bracket and am a little concern the metal could "tear" over time.... any helpful comments/ suggestions? Current

really there to hold the door open , you need to still have a hold on the door and let it back slowly

It won't flex if you put a larger metal plate infront of it to spread the load.
A bit like a sandwiched washer only square. |

Yes can see that but just wondering why mine is doing this when no-one else has this issue. I'll take it apart again and loosen things off again. I can also not find anything mentioning where to put the washers that came with kit( I just put them under nylock nuts? Current

I've had the Mudstuff one for a good while now and it's a great mod the flexing is normal and it's not broken yet and I run a big swing away carrier off the door as well

I fitted a gas strut to my last Puma and took it off before trading the vehicle in but have probably decided against fitting it to the new vehicle. The reason for the decision is that I got a bit fed up preventing the open door being pushed against the jockey wheel or handbrake on my trailers. Ok it's no big problem to keep a bit of cloth or something handy to stuff between the door and trailer to stop damage but catching the door and remembering to stick something in it each and every time just became a chore.
So the strut, bracket along with the 2.4 Adrenaline pedal lock which doesn't fit a 2.2 is likely to sit on the shelf gathering dust  Steve.

Good point Steve Only had a damper on the new one, and not towed as yet, but i can see this may be a problem, with other people using the rear door !! so may only have it fitted for longer overseas trips and coming off for other times !
