Catherine this is a very common occurence in earlier Pumas. By removing the shroud that covers the rear brake light you will see where it will have worn through the element. I'll update this with a few links. Latter models have an element that routes around the brake light. You may be able to fix it with Granville (not the Open All Hours variety) available from Halfords or any decent automotive bits 'n' bobs supplier.

Ahhhh,
I think this is going to have to be referred back to the dealer as the car has had privacy film applied, although I'm guessing that has just gone around the rear brake light housing. Last edited by CatherineF on 16th Dec 2014 9:03am. Edited 1 time in total |

This is the latter newer glass that has the element rerouted.
Click image to enlarge I too had a window tint and as a result couldn't get mine swapped out under warranty for the same issue. Also it may be that the tint was fitted after the issue was already there in which case the tint may need to come off. The window above was from a For Sale thread. If you need one they can be got from anyone that has or is going to have Landyglass/VSG or whatever it is called this week. May be worth giving David or Claire a ring if you need one? I subsequently replaced all my rear windows eventually so got rid of the issue. Good luck. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Is it likely that the brake light is suffering from the same issue?

Yes 'shared earth'.... first link after 'Granville' look at Dgardel's photo in the associated thread, it will become clear. (The problem not the window.) If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Doh!
Missed that bit! Thank you. Fingers crossed we can get it all sorted without new glass and film. |

Took it down to The Pike Associates in Trowbridge and they have ordered a repair kit. Decided as it was under warranty to take it to someone who should know what they are doing.
So fingers crossed by the end of the week it will be working. |

Frustrated to say the least. It went in this morning to a local specialist.
He's confused and needs is back in early January to chase down the issue. Supposedly there was power and when it was tested a 2nd time there was no power to a connector top right. The only thing he has noticed is a little mark on the black surround of the brake light (see photo). Of course sods law it's Christmas and they will be closed so it can't be looked at until 5th January. Does anyone know of a good Auto Electrician in Wiltshire? Click image to enlarge |

If you want to make a temporary repair and are close to a motor factors you can buy a tube of paint on repair solution that will fill in a small nicks in the filament. something like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/heated-rear-window...pair%20kit or herehttp://www.halfords.com/motoring/garag...ter-repair Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

Well that's what the specialist had supposedly ordered in.
I'm not impressed as you can gather because it was booked in for an hour. I wasn't there this morning but as I understand it, it now needs to go back in to be chased back. I've got another specialist who also said bring it in on the 29th and we will have a look and maybe get someone in. So I'm thinking I'd probably just be better with someone electrical. |

My brake light track (also early Defender) has failed near the connector down in the bottom right of the window.
To fix, I've run a cable up the side of the window seal to the light fitting (which bypasses the track) until I get around to fitting a new window. The cable is neatly out of sight. Craig Rogers 2007 Puma 110 XS 2011 Evoque Coupe Dynamic Lux www.craigrogers.photography |

If you speak to Dave at VGS ( formerly landyglass ) he will supply you with a tinted heated screen with LED , high level light for a very reasonable price.
Never been a fan of stick on tints for these potential related issues. |
