Strange behaviour from my engine *FIXED*
I have noticed that I get strange behaviour from my engine, It runs sweet.... read "normal" most of the time, but when I go a few miles from home and stop at the shop (for fags and LR/Tractor mags) when I resume my journey it goes like s**t off a shiny shovel Thumbs Up . This happens everytime from cold, drive a few miles, stop for 2 mins, off like stink.
My routine has changed thats why I am noticing it now, never used to stop before.

Things like this worry me as I am waiting for something to break !

I have done all the stuff we know about like injector loom etc a few months ago. engine is sound.

Any ideas much appreciated Idea 2003 Td5 90

If it's a Td5, it's your MAF sensor that is knackered.

Thumbs Up

Hi

@ munch, no I switch it off.

@ landy andy, yeah I did wonder, I just thought there would be a greater drop in performance. If I disconnect it and run it am I right in thinking performance will be better because the ecu will use default values rather than relying on a knackered maf ?

Thanks 2003 Td5 90

Yes,if you disconnect the MAF the ECU will use same default setting. Be careful to tuck the connection out of the of the exhaust or turbo as it gets hot.

Mine did the same. Disconnected the MAF sensor and couldn't believe the difference. A new sensor made it even better.

Very Happy

Alive do uprated ones, and cheaper than main dealer Thumbs Up , if you do want main dealer though, talk to Dan at Duckworth's.

Cheers men

Disconnected maf today, went better so I got a genuine/vdo seimens one for £64.
Loads better now Thumbs Up

The one I took off was a cheapo with no name so I guess thats why it went bad.

Thanks again Very Happy 2003 Td5 90

Isn't it nice when it's simple, and relatively cheap.
