2009 110 starting / running issues...
Sorry for making my first real post a plea for help but...

This evening my 2009 110 failed to start.
It's not been used for a week or so and we've had heavy rain.

When I first tried, it turned over, fired instantly (as usual) and then sounded like it was running on two cylinders before cutting out. No unusual dash lights except oil and engine (MIL?) once it stopped.
Immobiliser light was off.
It then refuses to start but it does turn over as fast and eager as normal.

I locked it and left it for half hour and then tried again.

It starts but slowly dies (needs constant pressure on the throttle) and cuts out after 30-40 seconds. It will then not start but will turn over as before...

All the relays (under the drivers seat) look and feel as if they're home - although I'll check that again in daylight.

I have a water leak somewhere which results in puddles on the driver's floor mat when it rains but it's a Defender, don't they all do that? Smile I've read that it's possible the AS10 unit has got wet?

I've had the grumbly, noisy, cramped, flawed yet perfect beast for a year, still totally smitten with it. Just not sure how to get it running for the MOT next week!

Any thoughts would be gratefully received.

My money would be on the 10AS. Water corrodes the terminals, causes many issues. Unplug it, clean/wipe off the connectors with WD40 and see if it helps ....... Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

Thanks Dave-H and bpman!
It's not rained today and there's no problem with starting or running.
There is plenty of water leaking in behind the dash so I obviously need to sort that and waterproof the 10AS unit...

Is there any issue with unplugging the unit and then reconnecting it?
