Another Webasto Thread- but with a Tdi
Hi guys

So, I have purchased a Webasto Thermotop z (not ideal, my own fault for not fully reading the label) for a very good price.

Once it turns up I will give it a go over and make sure It is complete and has all the bits as required.

I have had a look around and my 110 has this outlet on the tank.

Was this a clever bit of early Land Rover thinking to be an outlet for diesel heaters?

I think that is a return point and as such does not have a long pickup or any pickup at all... 1990 Defender 110 200TDI Camper - now converted to Td5 power

Poo thats annoying thought it was going to be a nice and easy install that way.

It may be possible to run a a fuel supply line through a special piece in the venting hose:

I remembered reading about some installations using this kit, only don't know which forum or thread it was, was some time ago. But I think it may work well and seems no need to hassle with tank fittings or lifting the tank. Wink Cheers, Vincent

There is this thread here http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic14809....sto+thread which is very handy and I have been taking very careful notes....

However Td5's have plastic tanks and much less room to fit them so I was hoping that this pipe would work.

Weirdly I have found no mention of this pipe which ether makes me think its a one off for my tank (highly unlikely) or nobody really knows what its for or what it does.

I'm a bit scared to unbolt it and see what it does because I don't want to break it and then have an open hole to my fuel tank right next to my rear tyre. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

Yeah looks like it.

Do you think it would be anything to do with a dual tank set up?

Looks like parts 30/31 are some form of fuel pump, in which case the pickup idea may still work?

Also came with this wiring diagram.

Its a bit hard to see but looks like it just needs a live and neutral to the battery and then a signal live to fire up.

That outlet on your tank is almost certainly just a return with no pipe into the tank. I had my new (leaking) britpart one out from under the car yesterday and had a look 1990 Defender 110 200TDI Camper - now converted to Td5 power

That is correct, but make sure you connect the live direct to the battery without a switch i.e. permanent live, because that is needed for the delay time of the fan after switching the heater off. Cheers, Vincent
