Embarassed

Ran it before coming home from work today - worked beautifully absolutely over the moon with it.

Just need to build my trust up with it a bit Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

Hi Guys,

Quick question with this....

My Exhaust end looks like this currently.

Can I drive with it running with this set-up or will that cause untold chaos?

What do you think? Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

I'd probably site it somewhere else - one muddy field/lane and that'll be clogged with mud stuck up against the outrigger.

I would extend it a bit with fexible exhaust hose and point it backwards under the outrigger. Cheers, Vincent

If I was to just do a 90' bend straight down and then a piece of pipe down to just below the bottom of the outrigger?

Can you run the heater while driving?

I assume you can?

Reason being is that once I get going the temperature falls quite quickly as I drive it cools the engine down again so I am thinking of keeping it running until the engine can sustain its heating? Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

I guess you can (but I'm not sure about that) - according to the Installation Manual the heater wil adjust its heat output according the coolant temperature between 77 - 79 C, if the coolant gets hotter it will shut down. Cheers, Vincent

It does go into maintain mode when it gets to temperature and then will shut down if it gets too hot.

Problem I have is I start it running in the morning, it gets up to running temperature so I turn it off, then start the engine and drive to work but in that time the engine cools down to below running temperature.

I'm guessing a rad muff could solve this? Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

Why not try it, let it run while you start the engine and drive to work?
And yes - a muff would definetly help. i always put it on when temperature drops. Cheers, Vincent

Why is the engine cooling down? Without the coolant heater it would start to warm up once running and driving until it settled at running temperature so why is it doing the opposite when it has been pre-heated?

Is your viscous fan seized? Thermostat known good?
