I always ran mine on 5w30 Quantum (VW,s own oil) owned it for 6 years and and used it for everything it didn't have an easy life. 2005 Td5 90 XS

Think the 2.5 td was more suited to a 10/40 oil 5/30 might be bit thin if its done a few miles
I had one for few years ( used it alot for towing ) only ever used 10/40 semi synthetic diesel engine oil |

I use 5w30 in everything ! My Td5,Mrs Sparts Rav, kids cars, my motorbike, generator, lawn mower the lot ! 2005 Td5 90 XS

15w40. Anything else is a bit thin. Same for a 200

My mates 19j engine (first TDI/ pre 200TDI) is 15w40 mineral oil.
