Which gasket sealant for diffs?
When refitting diffs, driving members etc what sealant is used to supplement the paper gaskets? And what is the ebay number? Whistle 1990 Defender 300TDi

something like this eBay item number:

eBay Item No. 261463521938

if your going to use sealer on paper gaskets , be careful with how much you use as it will make gasket slide and split and push out round the joint

you only need a very small amount , people always use too much and it just pushes out and knackers the gasket and if its got a big lump on the outside then there will be on the inside as well and just makes the job look a mess and bodge up

I always just use silicon. Have done for years without any issue, they aren't under any pressure and it makes it a simple job.

Personally speaking I would use Hylomar Hylosil.

Hylosil is what LR use on the production line. Gets my vote.

Diffs (and sumps) now are sealed just with Hylosil and no paper gasket is used.
