I would hazard a guess that that's a theoretical maximum based on gearing.

Not sure what box ratios 6-Pot is planning on running.

I would also hazard a guess, it probably wouldn't achieve quite those figure until it gets a blower as the aerodynamic properties of the Defender is about as good as a brick! The biggest obstacle is itself. So it'd need the extra clout of the Supercharger to get that down!

Though saying that, I'm not sure of the tuning capacity that a stock LS3 has in it!

likeomg, which Vantage S do you have and what box ratios does that run?

There is absolutely no problem with the "tunability" of the LS3, which is a very nice STRONG engine. There are cars in Aus running around with well over 800HP with no worries at all,...extremely docile too,...of course the cost ain't small, but as the saying goes, the more you spend, the faster you go!

Hi pickles,

I didn't mean to sound like I was putting a downer on the LS3. I realise they are a very very strong motor and I'd love one. I was mearly wondering what sort of level of tune a 'stock' motor could achieve before starting to look at aftermarket blowers and various other bits.

Some of the kits available for the LS3 look almost like art than lumps of metal to bolt to the block!

Taaz, Naah no worries mate,I didn't take it that way at all.
In Aus, there is HEAPS of stuff for these engines,..cold air intakes, camshafts, valve gear/rockers etc, cylinder heads, all manner of exhaust systems, stroker kits, pistons, rods, crankshafts, whatever you want,.......before you even think about stuff like turbos, twin turbos, superchargers etc!!

Just got the Rakeway rear big brake kit. Not quite as sexy as the front kit but still nice.

I have them as above... front and rear

they are great, only problem is they are designed for a performance car it is easy to lock the tires in the dry never mind the wet

Im going to get rid of my BFG's for cooper zeons i think.

don't forget you need 18" wheels too.

Is that with or without ABS that you lock the wheels? Does this kit work with ABS do you know?
