They changed it for a brand new genuine one. Speaking to Turner Eng when Ford bought Land Rover they had a big shake up of all the part suppliers, one of the parts which massively dropped in quality was the rear main oil seals as they were originally made in UK by Dowtey. They are now imported from India and the quality is shocking, the Seals regularly being up to 3-4mm out of round and really not fit for purpose.

Needless to say, they are going to strip out the old one and put back a new one under warranty with no quibbles or issues.

That's the same seal that I had done too, mine was leaking before I went too. Laughing
You've got to smile it's why we like our leaky troublesome Landy's.

I know! its so weird that they both need similar treatment within days of each other. Hopefully your fix will last longer than mine.

I do love my troublesome truck, but I wish sometimes she would just behave. That said, she has given me 6.5 thousand miles since the last issue which was a leaking hub assembly in April(?) so its not all bad.

Covered tailgate with rubber cp, so dog does not slide off it.

Thats tidy Andy. How did you get it tight over the ridges on the inside of the tailgate? Have you eddged it with ali angle all the way round?

Just used a pu sealer to stick it. Like tiger seal stuff, and a piece of ally angle top and bottom. I was getting concerned because when he jumps in he slides and legs go down gap between tailgate an crossmember. Sorted now.

Be careful of the support cables too, we had those on a Navara we used to have and if they jump or slip off the side they could so easily break their leg.
We always used to take them in and out on a lead anyway for safety's sake.
I guess it depends on the trust you have and the dogs mentality if they are calm and sensible or a mad hatter. Rolling with laughter

Steve I was going to post exactly the same thing
When we Let ours out sometimes they charge off to the side and I cringe every time, same when jumping back in.
I've got the SVX rubber rear mat on mine and a fold out flap to bridge the gap between the crossmember but thinking of fold up sides to encase the triangle It's good to be back from the dark side
