Thanks for that think ill leave EGR but have exhaust and re-map fitted. Am hoping to get enough money to have it done at peterbourgh.
One more question sorry.
I believe your box allows me to take the re-map on and off the 110 so I can take it to the dealer.
What happens if the dealer updates the ecu will I lose these updates or will you charge to apply the updates?? I say this because my mate had his ecu updated at last service but he doesnt have a re-map.

This is correct, its actually VERY important you return the car to standard tune before any visits, if you have an update done and you have not returned the car to standard we can no longer make new files for the box.
If you loose the tune due to an update and you have returned the car to standard first, we can errase the box and as long as its phisicly possibile a for me a free updated file is made.
If the dealer makes a software change and you have not returned your car to standard first, the box is locked to a non existing car and is rendered usless.
If you are going to Peterborough show and you remind me, i can apply a tune to your car with some other tools for you to have a free trial at the show before you pay.
Ori have a Dealer in Sutton Coldfield if you wish for a sooner trial.

Im beleive you are aware probabaly of someone who had a refund after they could not be satisfyed , not that i was not willing to try nor given time unlike you who have given AL plenty of that, it was more that i was only given a very short chance to correct before it was made clear it was never going to be resolved easly with the said person.
Id like to point out this was only about a 4 week buy to full refund window of which the socalled problem was brought to my attention only in the last 4 days of ownership, so i think ive given fantastic customer service compared to your AL dealings.

Hi Pete, I gather this post was about me unless you've been dishing out more refunds?
I would just like to put the story straight. After receiving your remap...I brought the problem to you the
very next day.I told you it was and wasn't any different to a standard map.I thought I hadn't even
loaded it,it was that bad.You then gave me another remap which undoubtedly had a lot more pull, but
with problems.....ie,flat spots.I then rang you and made you aware of this problem which you told me it's because of the EGR needed blanking to sort the problem. I told you i already had it blanked,to which
you told me I needed a smaller blank. You sold me this map knowing that people were having problems.
And knowing that AL had pulled theirs off the market because of this problem. You then sent me a further
2 maps.....the first one I tried had the flat spots....the second one I tried was better but It was as if the
power had been turned down to overcome the flat spots.Oh,and by the way.....I never asked for a refund....
you offered me 2 options....the first was you told me you could sort this problem out at a further cost and
to drive to your business premises in York......the second was a refund.....I chose the refund as I am a busy man and did not have the time to drive all the way to York. And by the way....my card still hasn't been
credited.....but have I been on the phone to you moaning?? No...I haven't.I thought we weren't going to bring this on to the forum.....I certainly wasn't going to mention it.But I am going to stick up for myself when I'm
getting talked about on here.
Fekete, I dont think you should be sorting your problems with Pete via this forum (Martin?)
I don't think i should either but what are you to do when Pete brings it up...Also what as it got to do with you (Martin?)NEVER TAKE LIFE SERIOUSLY. NOBODY GETS OUT ALIVE ANYWAY

And for the rest, this may explane your surging to the odd one of you seem to have and moan about so much lol
EGR closes, air flow over the maf increases, injection increases, power comes with a surging bang.
let of the throttle, egr opens, cuts air flow over the maf, injection decreases power surges off, ohh and if you manage to catch it inbetween the two you sometimes get a mifsire or cough which can in some cases be made worse if the high pressure fuel pump calibration and pilot correction procedure is not completed correctly at the dealers after an update.

Many thanks Pete for that explanation, I think this is exactly what happens with my "stock" (unmodified) Puma...
It's great to finally get a logical and detailed explanation of what happens, rather than the usual denial from the dealer!

I got a Racechip, made in germany. Perhaps it is not as superb as remap, but it does the job making the rig very responsive since 1900ish rpm. You have the chance to adjust it. No smoke, no misfire, no flaty gaps, nothing. My engine has the second version ecu upgrade.Puma 110" SW

why on earth would you want to drive a Defender at more than 120kmh!?
Hi all,
Have been following the 'remap thread' and the moral of the story is - leave the remap well alone!
Keep to the standard as Defenders were not designed by LR to be 'supercharged in any way'.
As I mentioned in my initial e-mail on the subject spend your money on something else (a nice holiday perhaps!) and be happy with the original. If you want more power buy yourself something else - a Range Rover Supercharged, perhaps?
Just thought I'd enhance the discussion somewhat!
