Alpine radio problems
So I have just taken delivery of my 6 month old 130 and have been trying to use the radio. It works but
I plug in a USB from my iphone or ipad and it says "USB err 1" the handbook makes no mention of error codes so don't know what it means and 2 when I go to audio set up I have very limited options, I know I am doing some thing wrong but what?
Any clues?

So I've just read, you can't use the front port for iPod only for a USB flash drive.
You can use the rear socket though but you will need the iPod cable from Alpine.
Exactly the same as my Kenwood works, no doubt the cable is pricey.
The Kenwood cable is nearly £30

Now that's peculiar, in the handbook it clearly says to connect an MP3 player or similar device!
I would call landrover but I think they wouldn't have a clue!

An MP3 player can be different in file format, also using a 3.5mm audio jack in some cases.

Why not bluetooth your tunes to the head unit and just charge via the USB?

Bluetooth works brilliantly on mine, had my phone and ipad hooked up numerous times and everything works fine.

My iphone works fine on my alpine head. I plug it in the front everyday. It won't however charge my ipad.

I had an issue a while back and found my lead was at fault.

Well, I have the alpine cde-130r, which according to the alpine manual on their website, it has no Bluetooth and only allows USB sticks. So I guess it all depends what LR put in as to what works. It bears no relation to the defender handbook as far as I can tell, it's ok as I can use the jack plug to connect the iphone.

Hi Andy,
Only three options, rds, regional and pi seek, so now I which radio it is and I have the correct instructions. At least that mystery is solved!

in the defender owners manual YES, in the Alpine user manual it states that the usb can only be used for a USB storage device. Unfortunately that seems to be how it works. So I think the LR manual is describing a more upmarket version.
