At the bulkhead end, I have two substantial "U-brackets" that bolt around the roll cage horizontal bar and fix to the front end of the drawer frame. At the near side rear is a bolt going through the vertical side of the drawer frame to the side panel of the wheel arch. On the offside I built a frame to hold my cool box which also acts as a bracket to fix the drawer side to the wheel arch.
Its very solid..! cheers simon PS: a couple of pics of the U brackets... ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge Last edited by couplands on 6th Aug 2014 9:00pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Ahh right. I have been looking at the option of building a rear drawer system for the 110 but not sure on half or full length and also how to bolt it down. I was thinking of picking up a mount from the rear seats and then else where. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Given the weight involved, I thought it better to bolt through the vertical side pieces, rather than the tub floor. The shear forces in the vertical plane are much stronger.
In a 110 I'd put bolts at both ends, on mine I had the benefit of the roll cage to hold the front end. If your interested I can get some more detailed photos in the next few days...? cheers simon PS: as you're in the North West, you could pop round and have a look if you like..? |
