only reason I asked is while ago I looked at fitting one , but thought maybe it would push air under the axle and making axle run hotter

bit of a long shot I know ,but only a thought

My 10 reg is at 45 thou miles, and I've only had it 9months, and steering guard fitted about 6 months.

I now can't stop driving it, it's fun king great, best drive ever, zero play great drive, fun, fun.

My 90 is a 2011 and the build sheet says 2 pin diff, I think only 110 and 130 had 4 pin in 2011 DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

Yes that's correct, only 110's got given the four pin mid 10 reg. 90's have two pin.

Would recommend a visual check through the diff filler hole, saved me some trouble.

Aaahhhhh....how could I forget....

My front diff was replaced just 3 months ago due to accident damage.

I hope and believe they would have replaced it with a 4 pin???

It looks like a visual check will be the only way of knowing for sure. Doesn't look like LR's record keeping has improved over the years. If you talk to the series boys, what the records say, and what was built or exported can be a little different. My Defender and travels

Bearing in mind that your build spec also says you have a "2 pin" rear diff when you have a P38 diff, I wonder if this is confusion caused by nomenclature. Remember that the two options are firstly a diff with a single cross-pin which carries two differential gears (the weak one), and secondly a diff with two cross-pins carrying four differential gears (the strong one). Quite where and how the expressions "two pin" and "four pin" which are so widely bandied about come from is a mystery (it may be that the diff gears are being incorrectly referred to as pinions, hence 2 or 4, but they are not).

If on your build sheet LR is being technically accurate they may be saying both your diffs have two cross-pins and hence four differential gears, which is what we would expect.

when we were doing lots of race boxes ( not land rover) it was called a one pin ( or standard one ) or the uprated one was called the two pin

Must admit I have always questioned the two/four pin name, as it makes no sense.

I was really pleased to see my front diff was shot, if it had been ok, I would have been questioning the boxes, and I don't want to go there Rolling Eyes Diff's are easily changed, and easily upgraded.
