It's OAT in my Disco 2 so it will be. There was at some stage a plastic collar around the filler on the header saying OAT only.

thanks guys, I have also just found it in the Haunes manual
![]() I've got a bit of a seep from near the radiator or thermostat don't know what part it is but think the pipe might need looking at. Its funny as Halfrauds says the blue stuff for Defenders 1983 to 2007. That would have messed things up ![]() |

Just changed coolant. Took out just under 6.5 litres and now waiting for engine to cool to top up expansion tank. Easy enough apart from access to the clips which were a

Mmmm...took defender for a 8 mile drive and when I got home checked level in expansion tank and it appears to have lost about half of coolant level. No obvious leaks to naked eye
![]() Will properly check tomorrow, is it usual to have to top up again? Tommo |

yes , keep a check on it for few days as it may have a air pocket somewhere
keep topped up wait for it to level out then check as normal if it doesn't then check for leaks or if its a big drop check for leaks straight away ! sometimes if you got a weak spot changing antifreeze will cause the weak spot to start leaking |

Heater on full and the windows open next time you go out should clear any airlocks

Having the heater on or off makes no difference to the water flow. It's not like some cars where there's a water valve that is opened, the heaters in these Defenders are permanently flowing with coolant.
