Yesterday and today was the Caithness County Show and Highland 4x4 Response had a stand to promote the group and look for new members. A really good day, plenty of interest, some potential future members and the possibility of some land to utilise for training.

Tomorrow I'm driving from the deepest, darkest Caithness down to Gloucestershire. Any def2.net members give me a wave if you see me, it's 600+ miles, I'm bound to see one of you! 2007 (57) Defender 90 (Sold)
Looking for another to replace it.

The road less travelled.... is a muddy one!

Took mine for a drive, yesterday to the CLA Gamefair to see what the new wheels and tyres felt....sounded like. Pleased with the look and very happy with the noise and feedback from the rubber. _______________________________

Cleaned up the starter motor solenoid contacts but it made no difference so ordered a repair kit.

The way it goes I suppose, if the contacts have eroded too far then no amount of cleaning is going to revive them. When I was having major problems with a leaking FPR the cleaning trick worked for me a few times, it took some time for the remaining oil washed crud to stop getting in to the contacts, I began to get quite adept at sitting underneath and whipping the solonoid out and cleaning it up, only once did I leave power connected, when you arc the spring against the barrel of the solonoid housing after liberally squirting contact cleaner in there it produces a great way to lose your eyebrows, whatever hair you've got left on top and causes onlookers to run for fire extinguishers!

Son bought a Slick Shift gear lever turret off a guy on face book that makes them in the week and it came today so son fitted it after work and its great i gave it a quick run round the block and it seamed ok but got a 300 mile round trip to angelsey and back tomorrow so should be a good test for it Very Happy Very Happy

Sorry for not getting back on this but i have been doing someone else's shift at work and sleep has been virtually none existant but i am on my normal shift now so everythings ok again Very Happy

anyway 90 ran ok to angelsey and back but did use a bit more juice than i was expecting but think I may have sorted part of the reason but will find out better after we have been to billing this Saturday.

anyway started off at treaudder bay but lost a lot of tackle due to snagging on rocks then later drove to hollyhead breakwater and spent the last few hours there but didn't catch anything but are planning a camping / fishing trip there next month all being well Very Happy

will post pic's later Very Happy Graham

Shocked I'll make sure I disconnect the battery Rolling with laughter The annoying thing is that the starter motor is only 2/3 years old and this is happening again already Evil or Very Mad
