Cracking sound from each corner when wet
This has happened two or three times now, first from the front offside and from each rear corner. When wet, after splashing through puddles or pressure washing round the wheels I hear a sharp cracking noise when pulling away or when braking. I imagine that the axles are trying to twist and something is moving. Could be the springs or a bush? It sounds like the kind of crack or sharp tap you get from a rattling brake pad and stops when it dries out. Have had a look round underneath and everything seems to be where it should be.

Probably just a case of TADTS, but would be good to know if something needs tightening.

Do you leave the vehicle stood for a little while after washing?

It could just be the brake pads sticking to the discs and the bang you hear is then releasing as you drive off. Happens more with high metallic content pads.

It's not from the pads sticking (rusting) to the disks; my Elise does this.

The cracking / knocking is not a one-off either, it happens every time I pull away or come to a halt; at least for a few minutes until things have dried out. My initial thought was that it was the springs moving on the platforms.

Sintered pads in a Lotus can be quite amusing, especially if it's a third/fourth car and only used on high days and holidays!

Can you rule out the handbrake sticking?

Definitely not TADTS.
