I had similar issues with a chafed cable but had a combination of one or more of the Three Amigos' (TC/ABS/BRAKE) illuminated at the same time. Had to pull the fuse under the driver's seat in the end until I could fix it.

Does the fault disappear with the ABS modulator disabled? Love the way I get invariably drawn in. Here's another picture.....

I love the way you get drawn it too Razz

did wonder about pulling the fuse but haven't yet.

strange thing is there's no warning on the dash.

there's two switches on the brake pedal and presumably one is the 'old school' type switch for the brake lights and the other feeds into the abs module and / or the ecm?

as a starting point where was your wire damaged?

Saga continues.....

Drive for a while and repeat of symptoms above. Decided to get wiring diagrams out and 'bell out' the cables from under the driver's seat at the modulator. Short circuit offside sensor. Removed rear sensors and loom and as it was smothered in waxoyl had to give it a clean, nothing wrong with that end and all sensors had correct resistance values of about 1000 ohms. Damage was on vehicle side of loom chafed cable approximately a foot from the connector end.

Cut out affected couple of inches. You can clearly see the conductors.

Nailed in a couple of environmentally sealed inline splices.

Then heatshrunk the area.

Fingers crossed that's an end to it! Thumbs Up

good Thumbs Up

I hope to have resolved everything within 4 years and then hand the gauntlet over to Keith who seems to be having more than his fair share of 'issues'.

Cool

MoB,

The sun is shining, it's a wonderful day and you have to tempt fate and potentially put a dampener on it?

Hopefully he's found a 'Surrogate Land Rover Agony Aunt' somewhere else and her ears or fingers are bleeding from listening or trying to type solutions to his woes.

Alternatively what he needs is a local Land Rover workshop. He could make tea and sweep up hoping his efforts may get noticed and he can rely on grace and favour in return to get free work done and all his gremlins ironed out.

Now there's an idea. Any volunteers with a workshop? Rolling with laughter Bow down Rolling with laughter If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

would love to stop and joke about my problems but I have things to go and 'fix' on my truck.

and I'm silly busy with work at the moment. will let you know how I'm getting on this evening.

hope you're both having a good day (MoG and Mal) - and if you're speaking to any ABS experts perhaps you could ask if they have an explanation for why the brakes would come on?

Thumbs Up
