Clunking noise at low rews and when I turn off the engine
Puma 2011

Hi
I get some strange clonking noise when I turn of the engine and when I drive on very low rews. Its sound like if you are banging two steel pipes against each other, 3-4 times as the engine moves as it shuts down. The same sound, but less noisy, when you drive on idle and the engine moves around a bit.

Been on youtube and listen to the egr-noises ant it's not that type of sound at all. It stops when the engine stops.
Sounds like something that moves and bangs against som thing... ish

Suggestions?

This is the disintegrating clutch noise familiar to earlier Pumas. Try switching off the engine with your foot on the clutch - the noise will be absent.

If it is the clutch, it is advisable to get a new one fitted sooner rather than later since if it fails completely the repair can be a lot more expensive.

What year is your Defender? Is it the original clutch?

I just thought I´ll explain what made the noice.
It was a metal clamp on one of the water hoses that banged into a steel pipe (break pipe? don´t remember now) when the engine moved under startup and shut down and on very low revs.
